On June 23, 2004, at a joint unveiling held before the Castle at Disneyland, the Postmaster General introduced the first in a series of specially conceived collections attaching the magic of Disney animation to US Postage Stamps. The first printing of The Art of Disney series numbered one quarter billion stamps, allowing people everywhere to brighten their correspondence with images from an American icon.
