Stage 1 is for guided use with ages 9-12 months who still need a push it features a waist bar for added safety. Stage 2 is for 12-18 month old learners who are getting the hang of pedaling. Stage 3 removes the waist bar and gives the child control of the steering wheel through ages 18-36 months. And finally, stage 4 removes the push bar so kids can ride around all on their own.
